Excessive or Uneven Gums

Cosmetic Gum Surgery

Your smile isn't just about your teeth. Your gums play an equally important role in dental aesthetics. If your gum line is uneven or your gums are excessive, your smile will be diminished. Your solutions include different types of cosmetic gum surgery. By either removing small portions of tissue from the gum line, or adding gum grafts to lacking areas, Dr. Lee will even your smile and create an appropriate balance between tooth and gum display.

Cosmetic Gum Surgery

Any procedure with "surgery" in its name can sound a little intimidating. But cosmetic gum surgery is nothing to fear. If you've had overlong gums throughout your life, have experienced gum growth as a result of periodontal disease, or your gums have receded as a result of grinding and wear, we can repair the damage. The procedure should take only one appointment to complete, and your gums will heal quickly to form your new smile.

Gum Grafts

Teeth grinding is a terrible tendency. It can go undiagnosed for long periods of time, as it primarily occurs at night. While you're grinding, your teeth and gums are suffering. Gum recession is a common side effect of grinding. Your gum line descends, revealing portions of tooth roots and causing sensitivity. A low gum line can also make a smile look aged and worn. A gum graft will add healthy tissue to rebuild the gum line. The healthy tissue will be taken from elsewhere in your mouth (often the roof), and will become a uniform part of your gums.

Gummy Smile Treatment

A gummy smile is one that reveals more of your gums that you would like. Don't spend time hiding or restricting your smile - gentle reshaping of the gum line will remove excess tissue. By exposing more of your teeth, you lengthen your smile and balance your tooth & gum exposure. You'll be thrilled with the results.
